I’m Jo Bennett, a Surrey based artist and I am very much inspired by nature and my leafy surroundings. I specialise in pet portraits and botanical art mainly working with polychromos coloured pencils.
I am based in Bramley near Guildford.
Commissioning a pet portrait
It is an absolute privilege to be asked to capture your beloved pet’s true character in a bespoke pet portrait. It will be there in your home to be cherished and admired for years to come keeping their memory alive forever. My portraits and botanical art can also be a perfect gift for a friend or loved one to show how much you care about what is important to them. A portrait can also be a beautiful reminder for such a time when your pet has sadly passed away.
I choose to specialise in Polychromos pencil which are oil based and work by putting many layers on top of each other to achieve an amazing rich depth of colour. A medium that I think is superior for pet portraits.
To commission a pet portrait for either yourself or as a gift really couldn’t be easier.
“I commissioned Jo for a portrait of my lovely two dogs that had sadly passed away, she had never met them so I sent photographs, she managed to draw them in a away that they were still alive, she captured their beautiful eyes, the way their coat shone. I look at the portraits everyday and it’s like they are still here with me. Thanks again Jo”

"Jo captured a true likeness of my dog. Careful thought was put into depicting my dog’s character and personality. I am really delighted with my picture”

Botanical Art
There's nothing so absorbing as working on the complex layers of a flower's heart, the fine wings of an insect or the intricate patterns on a leaf. Flowers from the garden or autumnal fruits in the nearby woods are endlessly stimulating, my preferred media enable me to create depth, texture and bold contrasts in light and dark which make for a more dramatic composition. A piece of art work of your favourite flower or garden bird makes the perfect gift.
